Donald V Tucker

July 22, 1929 — May 22, 2023

An Incredible God Deserves Incredible Praise Even though our hearts are never ready and the time always seems that it is too short, we give thanks and praise to God for the 93 years He gave to our beloved father Don, "Donny" Vernon Tucker. Donald Vernon Tucker was the last born son from the union of the late Mancer and Irene (Bolling) Tucker on July 20, 1929 in Framingham, MA. He departed his earthly life on May 22, 2023 after a long stay at Marina Bay Long Term Care Facility, Quincy, MA. He now joins his late wife Marie (Powell) Tucker to whom he was married for 60 years. From this union, Donald gained a loving and caring stepson, James A. Williams, affectionately known as "Scooter". From the start, Don chose a quiet spot in the busyness of life. His family was large in number and statute, and being the last born child into a blended family of Bollings and Tuckers, Don later found solace living a simpler life. He wasn't a church going guy, like his Baptist deacon dad who kept him in church all day long as a child, nor had he chosen, or nor did he choose to go into public life as his older sibling (former MA Senator) Royal Bolling Sr., or his nephews, (former MA Representative) Royal Bolling Jr., (former Boston City Councilor) Bruce Bolling. Instead, Don was more of a homebody and kept his circle small with his wife Marie (Powell) Tucker, stepson James "Scooter" Williams, daughter in law, Beverly and grandsons, Kacy and Corey. Although there weren't many visits to Framingham after his mom and dear Sister Corinne passed, he kept close to his brother Orrie and sister in law Catherine Tucker. There were short and probably too infrequent visits to the rest of the family because of his shyness, but as the recently last surviving uncle, it warmed our hearts to hear the Bolling nieces and nephews always shower him with "Uncle Donny" hugs and loves. Don worked for General Motors for 40 years and had incredible work ethics. Whether he worked on cars, or was using his hands to do simple carpentry things, which he loved doing, his perfectionism showed in it all. Scooter, Kacy and Corey each have frustrating stories of how Don made them do something over until it passed his inspection. One time Don told Scooter that the fence they put up was just fine, after a long day of getting it right, but when Scooter went home, Don took it down and redid it! Don had a lot of patience, but we also had to exercise a lot of patience with Don because of this perfectionism he had with doing things. Over the last ten years, Don dealt with a lot of health issues. Pancreatic cancer, multiple myeloma, and Parkinson Disease. It was Parkinson which would eventually send him to rehab at Marina Bay, but when he was cleared to leave, he refused because the love of his life, Marie had already been admitted for a long stay because of dementia and Alzheimers. After Marie's passing, Don continued his stay there, and again kept his circle very small, but family and "rela-friends" were always there for him and we are so grateful. Aunt Minnie and Uncle Charles and the Forbes Texas clan, Lola Powell and the California clan, his late but best friend, Gypsy, Aunt Harriet and the Powell Boston clan, Aunt Margie, Muminah and the Reed clan, his niece Ruth and the Canadian clan, Ronald and Charlene Carroll, our "rela-friends" ; Don could not have made it this long without them, and as Don would say, Thank you for dropping in to the Do Drop Inn! (either in person or by Zoom) Grace Incredible! Don is loved and survived by stepson James "Scooter" Williams (Beverly), grandson Kacy Williams (Jannette Alvardo), grandson Corey Williams, great-granddaughter Brianna Marie Williams, sister in laws Catherine Tucker, Marilyn "Minnie" Forbes (Charles) Harriet Powell and a host of nieces and nephews. He joins the host of family who preceded him and prayerfully helped his transition home to his heavenly resting place where he would come face to face with our heavenly father: wife Marie Leslie Tucker, his parents Mancer Tucker and Irene (Bolling) Tucker, brother Orrie Tucker, sister Corrine Bolling, brothers: Sam Bolling, Sherman Bolling, Royal Bolling. Mercer Tucker children: Manser Jr., Bert, Earl, Grover, Ella, Julia, Leah.
