Audrey Michelle Washington was born August 17th, 1970 in Boston, MA to Grace Taylor-Washington and Edward Simmons. Unforunately she lost her mother and father at a young age, but surrounded by her close relatives and friends, she never lacked love in her life.
Audrey was raised in Boston and attend Boston Public Schools, where she graduated from Boston Technical High School. She went on to study at Phillip Junior College. She was a strong-willed, outgoing, loving and passionate person who brought life and laughter wherever she went. All these qualities manifested themselves as she traveled the streets of Boston as a MBTA driver. In her capacity, Audrey was blessed to have formed several strong relationships over the course of her 26 years of employment.
In her spare time, Audrey enjoyed time with family and friends; having a few drinks and laughter while playing her favorite card game of Spades. She also loved listening to music, especially the oldies but goodies. Audrey was known to cook delicious meals that everyone will surely miss.
Although Audrey swore she'd never have children, she found herself blessed with two beautiful children: her son, André Smith (born in1995) and her daughter, Audreyana Washington (born in 1998). Surprisingly Audrey found, that regardless of the loss of her parent and the example, she thrived in her outstanding life as a mother. As she raised her children, she worked to give them all she did not have in her early years. A sense of family, faith and the confidents to overcome, whether she confided in them or lead by example, she blessed them with the most important gift LOVE.
Audrey was a women of faith, who chose to be baptized at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church several years ago.
Audrey is leaving to cherish in her memory: her son, André Smith and her daughter, Audreyana Washington. Audrey was preceding in death by her mother, Grace Taylor; father, Edward Simmons; sister, Anna Rachel Taylor and brother, Michael Taylor.
Tragically, Audrey Washington departed from this world on Monday, February 12th, 2018. Though it brings us much pain and sorrow to see such a beautiful soul go, we find peace and joy in knowing that God has chosen to bring one of his favorite angels home to him. Without a doubt, we know that she is in Heaven, turning up the music and asking who wants to play a hand.
