The Late Kenny Hyde, Sr.
Of Holliston, MA
Kenny was born on August 19, 1947 on the island of Trinidad. He was the son of Tucker Hyde and Julie Rodney. Kenny is survived by former wife Patricia, their two sons Kenny and Jeffrey, his three brothers Nelson, Duette, and Carl, his two sisters: Claudia and Marilyn, cousins Claudette, Prince, Catherine, and Patricia, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents.
Kenny, along with many of his siblings migrated to Boston, MA in 1970 from Trinidad. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 1976, making the Dean’s List every year. While at Northeastern, he was a member of both the Accounting and Business Honor Societies (Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma, respectively). From there he went on to work in the healthcare industry as an auditor, accountant, budget analyst, and controller. Understandably, he made sure that his two sons had a strong foundation in mathematics while they were in school. Although the jobs he held were demanding, he always made time to spend with his two sons, whether it was making sure they solved that last homework math problem, offering advice to them, or taking them to the park to kick the soccer ball around.
Kenny, when able, faithfully attended weekly mass at St. Joseph’s Parish in Roxbury, MA, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Roxbury, MA , and most recently St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Dorchester, MA. He came ready to hear the word of God, listen attentively to the homily, sing along with the choir, and engage in discourse with many of his fellow parishioners.
Kenny enjoyed taking care of his home in Holliston, MA, as well as cooking, gardening, reading, listening to music, and having spirited discussions with anyone, especially family members. He thoroughly enjoyed the exchange of ideas through conversation and debate. He also was always willing to offer advice to family members, especially those of the younger generations.
