Shirvon Steed

August 2, 1962 — February 4, 2022

Shirvon Decarol Steed affectionately known as “ Pokey” was born August 2nd, 1962 in Anniston Alabama to the late Shirlene (Foster) Steed and Leroy Steed. She moved to Boston Massachusetts in 1965 with her mother and siblings where she completed her elementary and middle school education and where she would give birth to her three daughters, Charlette (Steed) Hines, late Chanelle Steed and Shaniqua Steed. Shirvon would eventually settle in Buffalo New York with her longtime partner “Cooc” Johnson and would go on to receive her GED and work as a Bus Aid for the Borax Board of Education for 15 years. Shirvon was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She valued family and building relationships. She loved her siblings; she loved her kids and grandchildren. Although she did not live in the same state as her family, she would call, send texts and make sure they knew she was thinking of them. She loved to cook and enjoyed home cooked meals. She was a huge football fan and loved the patriots. She had a giving heart and would help anyone in need. Despite all the obstacles she encountered in life, she was always smiling. Shirvon had a quiet strength and never complained even when times were tough. She will be remembered as a caring, beautiful soul, gone too soon. Shirvon is survived by her daughters Charlette Hines and Shaniqua Steed, Son n law, Shawn Hines and 4 grandchildren, Shauna Hines, Tarrin “TJ” Hall Jr., Cameron Hines, and Zachary Hines. She also leaves to mourn her siblings Clarice Burnet, Shannon Steed, Twanda Steed, Wayne Steed, Michelle Steed, Eloise Steed, Michael Moore and Leroy Steed Jr . She also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, In-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Shirvon is preceded in death by her daughter, Chanelle Steed and her Mother, Shirlene Steed. If Tears Could Build A Stairway If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken, No time to say "Goodbye". You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why. My heart still aches with sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you - No one can ever know. But now I know you want me to mourn for you no more; To remember all the happy times life still has much in store. Since you'll never be forgotten, I pledge to you today~ A hollowed place within my heart is where you'll always stay. Author: Unknown If Roses Grow in Heaven If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.
