Lettye Eliza Quarles

January 27, 1960 — January 17, 2022

On Sunday, January 16, 2022, Lettye Eliza Quarles transitioned from this life on Earth into her heavenly Father’s hands at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. Lettye was born on July 27, 1960, in Boston, MA, to the late Reverend Mother Retha J. Ragland and the late Donald Abraham Ragland. Lettye graduated from Madison Park High School in 1978. After receiving her high school diploma, Lettye went on to study phlebotomy as a lab technician. Upon graduating and receiving her certifications, Lettye began work as a lab tech. She met her husband, Marshall Sr., around December of 1980 by introducing Sherrita Berry, one of her best friends, who set her up on a blind date. After almost a four-year courtship and the birth of their son, Marshall Jr., Marshall Sr., and Lettye were married on October 12, 1984. In 1986 they were further blessed with twin daughters Lauren and Larin. Lettye fulfilled a life-long career as a Phlebotomy Lap Technician, culminating as a supervisor at Whittier Street Health Clinic. After serving more than 25 years in this field, Lettye retired in 2016. Lettye loved to travel to Disney with her cousin Angel and the family, but once retired you could always find her between Massachusetts and North Carolina, spending precious time with her children and grandchildren. Lettye was formerly a Little Zion and Saint Paul Church member in Boston, MA. She currently attended Abundant Life Deliverance Temple under Pastor Clarence Powell. Lettye is known for her giving spirit, kind heart, and great faith. She was the type of wife, mother, grandmother, relative, and friend whom you could always count on, and she had the ability to make everyone she knew to feel like family. Her favorite movie was “To Sir with Love,” Her favorite dish was spaghetti and fried fish. Lettye was also known for giving many of the newborns in her family nicknames. It was her way of showing love for the young children. Lettye was preceded in death by her mother, Reverend Mother Retha J. Ragland, her father, Donald Abraham Ragland, her sister Prophetess Ledarnella Ragland, and her sister Lynette Ragland. She is survived by her husband, Marshall C.
