Eveline Henson Jackson, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 5, 2021, surrounded by her husband, daughters, and son in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Eveline was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, on January 23, 1950, as the youngest girl of eight children to the late George Gray Henson Sr. and the late Marie Elizabeth Henson. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke Christian AME Zion Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where her parents are memorialized. Eveline attended Boston public schools and was a graduate of Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. In 2003 she opened Henson Jackson Art Gallery and Framery, one of the first African American women-owned and operated fine art galleries in Stoughton, Massachusetts. She later expanded the gallery to include Kidz n Canvas, a fun painting and summer camp experience for kids.
Eveline had a love for life. She was warm, compassionate, and resilient and always went out of her way to help others. Even at her worst, Eveline was still concerned for others. She would often say, “I’m a lover, not a fighter,” but she had the strength of an entire army and the courage of a lion.
Eveline was a loving wife and mother who instilled in her children the importance of education, integrity, and, most importantly, the ability to be independent and follow their dreams.
Eveline was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie Henson, brother Cleophus "Big Time" Henson, Sisters Geraldine "Gerri" Harris, and Gertrude "Gert" Henson, her nephew Staton Patterson and her grandson Edward Andrews III.
Eveline beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband: Eddie E. Jackson, of Stoughton, MA, daughter Carmen Wood of Attleboro, MA, son Kevin Harrison (wife Imani) of Randolph, MA, daughter Darniece Simmons (husband Jared) of Randolph, MA, and daughter Kimberlee Carroll (husband Marc) of Milton, MA. Her siblings, Georgianne “Georgia” Patterson of Roxbury, MA, brothers George G. Henson Jr. Of Roxbury, MA, James L. Henson (wife Dina Anima)of Fayetteville, NC and David R. Henson (wife Michelle) of Brockton, MA; fourteen loving grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
