Homer G. Thibodeaux was born November 1, 1924, in Orange, Texas. He is the son of the late Homer G. and the late Ida Mae McAllister Thibodeaux. Homer was an only child growing up in a multi-racial home during a different racial climate.
After his formative years, Homer entered the United States military. In August of 1943, he began active duty and was proud to serve as a part of the Coast Guard for 3 years.
As maturity and life came upon him, Homer married Irma (Morris) Thibodeaux, and from that union, he was blessed with two children: Homer George Jr. and Lynette "Sissy" Gibson.
As the world turned, He pressed forward in life. Homer had his second bite of the apple when he met his wife. Homer married his life-long companion, Blanche M. (laFargue) Thibodeaux in December of 1970. Together they purchased a home in Pembroke, Ma., where they opened their doors to many. They had the room in their hearts and made the space in their home to raise two of their grandchildren through their formative years - Their gratitude for his love & sacrifice was reflected in their care for him and his wife’s well-being throughout his transition.
“Homer & Blanche” took on many acts of service over the years, and he embraced the responsibility with ease. Homer was quiet but had that sharp vision, which instills a strong faith in overcoming the odds.
Homer was an ambitious young man who found a passion in Law Enforcement, which jived with his skill & Knowledge of Firearms. Homer served as a police officer for the Boston Police Department For 25 years. He was a well-known, Police Firearms Instructor. He became a member of the Massachusetts Criminal Enforcement Counsel and the National Firearms Association.
Homer realizes he was not one to sit home, so he found himself working at Walmart for the following 9 years before his body started failing.
Homer G. Thibodeaux, age 96, of Pembroke, Massachusetts, Passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, after a long journey. He reunites with those who have preceded him in his parents, Homer G. & Ida Mae McAllister Thibodeaux, His Daughter, Lynette Gibson,
his beloved stepchildren: George Henry, Jr., Lillian Henry, and Alfred Henry.
Homer leaves to cherish in his memory his beloved wife: Blanche M. (laFargue) Thibodeaux, and His Son, Homer George Thibodeaux Jr. He also leaves His GrandChildren: Tanesha Henry, Jason (Angela) Henry, George Henry III, Michael Henry, Dwayne Henry, Andrea Thibodeaux, Rayne Thibodeaux, Ryan Thibodeaux, Sean Thibodeaux, Ronald Quintyne-Gibson, Melissa Gibson. Homer also was blessed to have met most and helped raise some of his numerous Great Grandchildren that will also cherish his Memories and stand in his legacy. Homer leaves a host of relatives & some Friends, namely his close friend & fishing buddy, Chuck Willis.
