Sunrise: November 9, 1924 – Sunset: April 17, 2021
To everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born and a time to die; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, 4
Our precious mother, Sarah (Gaymon) Green, who was also affectionately known as “Emma” was born on November 9, 1924, to Willie A. and Mary Gaymon in Silver, South Carolina. Sarah was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County, South Carolina. On March 17, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut our beloved parents were married in holy matrimony. Their blissful union lasted for almost 75 years of a committed marriage.
After numerous years of dedicated service, our mom ultimately retired from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Sarah was also a longtime, faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Roxbury, MA; where the family worshipped our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Eventually, our parents returned to their roots of Clarendon County, South Carolina in 1986.
Sarah is the last surviving sibling of Elizabeth “Betty” Gaymon, Martha (Gaymon) Stukes, James Bernie Gaymon, King David Gaymon, Frank Gaymon, Herbert Ezell “Bob” Gaymon, and Homilee Nora Gaymon.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Green, Sr. (September 6, 1917 – February 6, 2017); by her daughter, Selma Rusha Green (June 16, 1951 – September 28, 1972) and by her son, Aaron Green, Jr. (July 30, 1953 - December 9, 2018).
Sarah is survived by her four adult children Crystal Marie Green of Randolph, MA; Stanley (Dorine) Green of Randolph, MA; Pamela Elaine Green-Harris of Lynn Haven, FL and Mitchell Green of Columbia, SC. Much enduring love is bestowed to her great-grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
