Newton Letts

April 3, 1946 — March 20, 2021

"Life of Newton Letts" "Youthie" Newton was born in Devon, Manchester Jamaica the fifth of fifteen siblings from the union between Beatrice and Ezekiel Letts. Newton attended Devon School in Manchester Jamaica. Newton fathered three daughters and was also stepfather to three children. Growing up Newton had responsibility with his older brothers to assist his mother on the farm, whose responsibilities included "tying out the cows" feeding the pigs, framing crops of yam and cho-cho. Dad Ezekiel had left to work in England, so everyone had to chip in. Newton left his parents farm to live in Kingston, popularly known as "Town". While in Kingston he gained employment at the Cement Factory in Rock Fort. Wanting to explore any opportunity to better himself Newton left for Florida in 1987, on the popular "Farm Work Program. At the end of the program he came to Boston MA, to be with his brothers, Ronald, Fred and Irvin. Later years his Mom, sisters Madge and Bibs and youngest of the siblings, Joseph also move to Boston. All siblings live in Boston except for Pearl who lives in New York and Gloria who remains in Jamaica. Newton in 1997, married his long time sweetheart Annetta Hall. He loved his family and often spoke of his children he had to leave behind in Jamaica, Brian, Ophelia, Dawnette and Samantha. He was able to reconnect later in life with his daughters. In MA, Newton worked in the Construction Industry, but his passion was painting. He was a professional painter and was very proud of his painting skills, which took him to jobs from the North Shore to South Shore. He was quick to point out any building/houses he painted. Newton does not drive but rest assured that doesn't stop him from getting to a job, he often walks most of the way. Newton was known for his kindness, faithfulness and willingness. He will give the shirt off his back to anyone. Newton is survived by wife Annetta Hall, his beloved children, eight siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand nephews, grand children family and friends. Newton, We Will Miss You Forever.
