Tahanee N. Jamal-Souto of Bedford Ma was born on November 16, 2001, in Boston, Ma, to mother: Ameenah Jamal, and father: Troy Souto. Her earlier years were spent in The South End of Boston.
Tahanee came into this world as a gift, an anticipated gift so much that her mom Ameenah put her in a bassinet under the Christmas tree because that was the only gift she needed. As a toddler, Tahanee’s determination was seen early. Her mom would place a child's gate separating the living room area from the kitchen. Tahanee didn’t see that gate as much as a wall, but a hurdle she must overcome to enjoy whatever it was on the other side. Literally, she jumped that hurdle again and again. Tahanee dealt with many hurdles in life, feeling misunderstood, and high school was a bit difficult for her, but she embraced humor through it all. She was a Girl Scout and would later attend Job Corp of Maine and earn her GED.
Tahanee and her mom were extremely close. You would hardly see one without the other. Shopping and watching a favorite show of theirs were special times they shared together. Tahanee most days would start her mom o with a fresh cup of coffee and talk. If you called the house, you better believe Tahanees voice wasn’t far because she was sitting at her mom’s side. Tyshon, Tahanee’s younger brother had an unbreakable bond, and no matter at the end of the day, they stood together.
If you had a chance to get to know Tahanee you would agree her smile and laugh moved that part of your spirit that might have needed it that day. She loved to laugh, and that laugh was shared by her caring nature, loyalty, acceptance and understanding of people, and her ability to make a situation fun. She also enjoyed cooking, swimming, and taking walks with her God Father, William.
What she really enjoyed was family, Tahanee frequently went on vacation to Rhode Island to visit her cousins Shante, Daryl, and children; or enjoyed being with her two god sisters Nashari and India of Boston, Ma. She loved her family. We must remember that, and understand this, the footprints she left in the short time she was here on earth made an impact. Life is short and fragile. Remember to live life to the fullest, and love the people around you often.
Tahanee leaves behind Siblings: Tyshon, Nadashia, Koi Aunts: Niema, Dennice, Aishah, Laura, and Marlene. Uncle: Saiid, Salih, Habeeb, and Saleem. A host of Cousins, two god sisters, Godparents: William and Shawn. Close friends Loraine and Paul, Merideth Johnson, big sister and many other close family members and friends.
She unites with the late: Grandmother Khadijah, Great Grandmother Jenny, Grandfather Kareem, Uncle Hasan, Uncle Karam, Uncle Richard, Aunt Anita, Uncle Sadiq, and Godmother Tracy.
Tahanee, dearly missed, but will be remembered.
Now I sit here with God’s embrace with peace and astounding light. I’m home.
