Ernest A. Phillips, Jr.

May 14, 1930 — October 22, 2020

Ernest “Ernie” Adolph Phillips Jr. Sunrise: May 13, 1930 – Sunset: October 22, 2020 Honorable Son of Ernest A. Sr. & Pearl I. Phillips, with 3 Sisters: Dorothy (Boyd), Muriel (DaLomba), Audrey (Phillips) and 2 Brothers Elmer and A. Robert (proceeded in death by all siblings except A. Robert). Ernie was born and raised in Medford and Boston, Massachusetts; is survived by brother A. Robert, 1st wife Doris, and their adult children: Daughter Asia Phillips and Son Ahmad Phillips, Grand Children Kewayne, Dewayne, and Mia; and Generations of Loving Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. Growing up Ernie loved to go fishing with his Father, Uncles, and cousins; on the Mystic River; he was proud to carry the nickname “Little Trout”, after his dad’s moniker “Trout”. When Ernie was old enough (in his mind) he shared he would sneak off by himself to his special spot on the Mystic River for nature’s own peace and quiet, to think, dream, and envision his life’s possibilities. Ernie, left High School early to serve his country during the Korean Conflict, with strong family heritage of U.S. Armed Service Men and Women, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, then after Honorably completing his enlistment in the U.S. Army, Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he successfully completed his tours of duty and received an Honorable Discharge. Ernie made learning a life long hobby, a Professional Student of sorts: he studied at Pepperdine University, Los Angeles Community College, American River Jr. College, and The University of Life Lessons. He has been referred to as an OG of Extreme Sports (Skate Boarding, Wind Surfing, and Hang Gliding), a true Adventurist, Accomplished Actor, Jazz Musician, Entertainer, Horticulturist, had a Big Personality, and was a Great Story Teller. Happy the man, and happy he alone, He who can call today his own: He who, secure within, can say, Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today. Be fair or foul or rain or shine The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine. Not Heaven itself upon the past has power, But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour. ~REST IN PARIDISE~
