Josephine (Williams) Grissett, was born in Selma Alabama on April 19, 1945 to the late Josephine (Phillips) and Howard Sydney Williams Sr.
Josephine (Williams) Grissett married the late (Carlton Lindsey Grissett) in 1961. Their union produced 5 children
and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Josephine Grissett became a young mother and wife very early, she relocated to Boston Mass, in 1963, leaving her family and young child in Birmingham, AL in order to establish housing and employment in Boston. Upon arriving, Josephine quickly gained employment and finished her education, then she returned to Birmingham, AL to pick up her only at the time Jacqueline Grissett.
Josephine Grissett worked several jobs, until she found the job she would love, she loved helping others. Josephine started working her dream job with special needs individuals in the 1970’s, she worked with T-Ride transportation for quite a few years. She also worked at the Boston University Hospital and Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center for over 25 years, until she had a sudden illness. Even though she became suddenly ill she always thought of returning to her job because she loved her job and the children.
Josephine adored her grandchildren and they adored her. She loved her game shows, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune, you couldn’t tell her she didn’t know the answers.
Josephine enjoyed going to church. She joined House of Prayer #5 Apostolic Church of God in 2001. She was full of spirit when attending church, she loved the lord.
Josephine did not let any of her restrictions keep her down, she was a strong fighter. Josephine Grissett never stopped living and believing that God is for you, he’s more than all the world against you.
Josephine leaves to cherish in her memory; Children: Jacqueline Napier and her life time partner Eric (5 children and 9 great grandchildren), Shurine Grissett (2 children and 9 great grandchildren), Audrey Grissett (6 children and 5 great grandchildren), Derrick Grissett (2 children), Craig Sr. (Wife Jacqueline) Grissett (3 grandchildren). Three sisters: Paralee Johnson of Berkeley, CA, Gloria (Thomas) Truss of Birmingham, AL, and Betty Williams (Niece/Sister) of Boston, MA and Brothers George Williams (Marie) of Boston, MA and Leo Williams of Birmingham AL.
Josephine was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers, Mamie Lee Williams, Ollie Mae Steele, Hattie Carmichael, Augusta Williams, Rosie Williams, Dorothy Jean Williams, Ola Myree, Eugene Williams, Louis Williams, Jerry Williams, Howard Williams, Robert Williams, John Williams and David Williams.
