Joyce E. Sousa

Joyce E. Sousa was born on February 1 1940, in Boston, Mass. to Domingo and Julia Fernandez. She had four siblings, Trudy, Ann, John and Sandra. Joyce grew up in Hanson, Mass, where she attended local schools. She loved dance, theater and baking. Joyce had many occupations including home maker, factory worker, theater assistant, dry cleaner, court clerk, salesperson, waitress and baker. In 1958 Joyce was married to Gerald Sousa and had five children: Gerald, Kenneth, Yvonne, Holly and Cecelia, but divorced in 1968 and finished raising them alone. Joyce also had 16 grandchildren: Tianna, Evan, Aneya, Alyssa, Andre, Bobby, Brandi, Shannon, Delayni, Candice, Michael, Reuben, Khaliyq, Taqiyya, Domingo and Mary. She also had 12 great-grandchildren. Joyce passed away on April 30th, 2020 at the Sherrill House. It was often said that no one could cook or bake like she could. She will be greatly missed. Heaven has a new angel.
