Dennis Irvin Whitlow

December 14, 1952 — April 5, 2020

Dennis Irvin Whitlow was born on December 14, 1952 in Boston, MA to the late Irvin Whitlow and Hazel Helen (Ealy) Whitlow. Dennis's education included attending the Boston Public Schools and after graduating he enlisted into the United States Army and there he served from 1974-1977. Years later he attended The Roxbury Community College earning a degree in Accounting. Over the years Dennis worked various jobs and that included Building Maintenance at the VA in Jamaica Plain and Primerica Insurance, there he made many many close friends. For the last 19 years he worked as an Accountant at the VA Hospital in Brockton until he retired in January 2019. Dennis loved his family unconditionally especially his 4 children and grandson. There wasn't a thing in the world that he wouldn't do for them. He had such a giving heart that when he had it he gave it. The family always received outstanding gifts at holidays, birthdays whatever the occasion. You could always count on being at the family functions. Dennis was a quiet laid back kind of guy. He was a man of a few words. You could often here his reply "cool beans" or "luv u 2". He had such a giant heart that even though his heart would skip a beat his mindset heart still kept going. He served his church, country, children and others well. Dennis was a true Deacon and a faithful one. As often as he was able he would attend every church service to represent Warren Street and he would never complain. When he hit a bump in the road he would detour right back to straight street. After Dennis retired all he wanted to do was travel and that he did with Joan by his side each and every time. He was already talking about the upcoming family reunions in both Arkansas and Alabama. Dennis only had 1 sister and that was Naomi. He loved and adored her and was very protective of her. The two were inseparable and always consulted each other when making family decisions. Dennis fought a good fight for many years. Sadly, he lost that battle and goes ahead to join his Mother, Father and Brother. He leaves behind to remember his fighting spirit his former wife Joan Whitlow, his former companion Gloria Bost, Four children Incia and Dennis Jr.(KEZE) of Boston, Ma; Ronald and Sheana of Greensboro, NC; one grandson Donte; one sister Naomi Whitlow of Boston, MA and one brother Irvin Whitlow Jr. of Savannah, GA ; 1 daughter in-law KEZE who he supported greatly in her career; 2 sister in-laws Chemi and Alise Whitlow, a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Life and Legacy will follow at a later time, please check back for updates.
