Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn Maxine Collins-Stephens

November 14, 1950 — March 30, 2020

Our‎ mother,‎ Reverend‎ Doctor‎ Gwendolyn‎ Maxine‎ Collins-Stephens‎ was‎ born‎ in‎ Asheville,‎ N.C.‎ on‎ Nov.‎ 14th‎ 1950‎, to‎ the‎ late‎ Deacon‎ Spencer‎ M‎ II‎ and‎ Reverend Mother‎ Adell‎ J.‎ Collins.‎ She‎ departed‎ this‎ life‎ peacefully‎ on‎ March‎ 30,‎ 2020.‎ ‎ Due‎ to‎ governmental‎ constraints,‎ we‎ are‎ not‎ allowed‎ a‎ traditional‎ funeral‎ for‎ our‎ dear‎ Mommy‎ and‎ ironically,‎ she‎ did not‎ want‎ one.‎ We‎ guess‎ all‎ happened‎ this‎ way‎ to‎ ensure‎ we‎ did not‎ oppose‎ her‎ wishes.‎ Mommy‎ was‎ hilarious‎ and‎ she‎ surely‎ is‎ getting‎ her‎ way!‎ Mommy‎ not‎ only‎ epitomized‎ love,‎ inclusivity,‎ brilliance,‎ class,‎ and‎ order,‎ she‎ was‎ a‎ prominent‎ minister‎ of‎ the‎ gospel,‎ counselor,‎ educator,‎ nurse,‎ journalist,‎ entrepreneur,‎ and‎ atop‎ mothering‎ eight‎ of‎ her‎ own,‎ she‎ was‎ ‎ "mother"‎ to‎ all.‎ Many‎ amazing‎ souls‎ and‎ organizations‎ have‎ been‎ asking‎ what‎ we‎ need‎ and‎ where‎ to‎ send‎ donations‎ and‎ such.‎ We‎ do not‎ know‎ what‎ we‎ need,‎ but‎ we‎ appreciate‎ everything‎ and‎ anything. There‎ should‎ be‎ no‎ pages‎ of‎ any‎ kind‎ requesting‎ funds‎ on‎ Mommy's‎ behalf.‎ If‎ inclined‎ to‎ donate,‎ the‎ family‎ is‎ accepting‎ via‎ cash‎ app‎ ($Njmungo)‎ or‎ via‎ PayPal‎ to‎ (njmungo@berklee.edu).‎ For‎ cards,‎ we‎ are‎ accepting‎ at‎ 174‎ Pond‎ Street,‎ Avon,‎ MA‎ 02322.‎ We‎ love‎ you‎ all‎ so‎ much‎ and‎ you‎ best‎ believe‎ once‎ the‎ constraints‎ are‎ lifted,‎ we‎ will‎ be‎ in‎ touch‎ with‎ celebratory‎ details‎ exactly‎ as‎ Mommy‎ wished.‎ If‎ Mommy‎ impacted‎ your‎ life‎ through‎ her‎ prayers,‎ counsel,‎ love,‎ care,‎ and‎ friendship,‎ please‎ take‎ this‎ time‎ to‎ reflect‎ on‎ your‎ experiences‎ and‎ feel‎ free‎ to‎ share‎ them‎ with‎ us. Please‎ continue‎ to‎ pray‎ for‎ us‎ as‎ we‎ work‎ to‎ piece‎ together‎ the‎ fragments‎ of‎ our‎ shattered‎ world.‎ "GWEN‎ IS‎ LOVE" Warmly,‎ The‎ Children
