Claire Carter-Marsh, daughter of John Sr. and Claire Carter, was born July 17, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Boston Public Schools, Girls High School and graduated from Wilfred’s Academy in Boston to become a very successful cosmetologist, ultimately retiring from Especially Hair in Mattapan.
Mom, Mum, Mommy, Gran, GG, Auntie Claire quietly departed this life on Thursday, November 28, 2019, surrounded by her beloved family.
Claire is pre-deceased by her loving husband Philip Marsh Sr. with whom she resided in Brockton, Ma after marrying on July 4, 1999. Their favorite past time was traveling and playing slots.
Claire is survived by her sister, Nacie E. Graves, brother, John Carter Jr. both of Boston and her former husband and friend Lionel Kelley of Puerto Rico. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her five children: Danita Kelley-Brewster (Arthur) of Boston, Darryl Kelley Sr. (Lisa deceased) of Boston, Leah Magee (Anthony Sr.) of Georgia, Sonja Baitey (Morris, deceased) of Georgia, Eugenia Howard (Timothy) of Boston: 19 grandchildren, Aja-Reigh, Che-Xian, Arthur Jr., Ty-Janee, Que’Mya, Darryl II, Keyla, Darria, Autumn, Ave and Zachery, Juandrea, Anthony Jr. Joshua, Jordan, Barbara, Kenya, Sabrina, and Timothy: 9 great-grand children, Michayla, Skylah, Nathtayvia, Natasha, Nashae, Kaiden, Mateo, Aiden and Poppy:nephews, David, Donald and Spencer; nieces, Susan and Kimberly: and friends who were more like family to her, Monica, Syvonne, Dimitri, Christian, Paula, Patrick, Hannah, and Haleigh just to name a few: and a host of relatives and friends.
Claire had a love for planning and celebrating family events, creative bedazzling, and cheering on the New York Yankees (Boo to those Yankees say her children!)
