James C. Haley Sr, 80, husband of the late Haroldine Jones of Boston, MA, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. James, affectionately known to his family and friends as Fat, was born on September 9,1938 to the late Roy and Mattie (Posey) Haley, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the 6th of 10 children. James attended the Boston Public School System, until 1956 when he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served for four years, earning the rank of PFC, ending in his receiving an honorable discharge. James worked for various car dealerships delivering trucks to their locations on the East Coast. He also worked for the King Arthur Flour Company as a distributor delivering their products to their vendors throughout the New England area. His love of cars was no secret, no matter what kind of car he had, you could find him outside with a rag in one hand and wax in the other. Out of all the cars he owned, his Cadillac was the one he loved most. James enjoyed driving, he’d take long car rides for leisure and was alway willing to give anyone a ride. He enjoyed watching various shows, Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, Westerns, Seal Team, and Ponderosa, just to name a few. When he wasn’t watching tv, he enjoyed listening to country western music, blues and jazz. James leaves to mourn his children Wayne Haley, Brian Haley, their mother Patricia Haley, Lisa Gardner Guse(Artell), Delores Davis and James Haley Jr.. He was preceded in death by his son Darrell Haley. He was a grandfather and great -grandfather to 12 beautiful children who will truly miss him: Elliot Gardner, Christopher (Shannon) Gardner, Dwayne Haley, Ernest Haley, Charles Taylor, James Haley III, Jennaya Haley, Elijah Haley, Madison Haley, Katelynn Daum, Demi Haley Fuentes, and Dakota Haley Fuentes. James is survived by his siblings, James E. Benjamin(Doris), of Boston, MA, Carrie Sumrall(Job),of Boston, MA, Bennie L. Reese, of Providence, MS, Roy Ellis Haley, of Framingham, MA, Robert Louis Haley, of Collins, MS, Roosevelt Haley(Laura),of Boston, MA, Sandy Haley (Shirley) of Boston, MA,. James was preceded in death by his older sister Goldie Mae Crosby, of Sandusky Ohio and younger brother Marcus Haley, Sr., of Boston, MA. Uncle Fat, as he was loving known, will be fondly remembered and missed by his many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
