Stacey also leaves to mourn a host of friends and family in Boston, Keene NH and wherever he went.
Although Keene was his home for almost three decades, he never forgot his Bajan nor Boston roots. He would often make trips to Boston to be with his family and friends, he and his family would come home just to have mom cook oxtail which he loved.
Stacey was known throughout his local and Boston community for his larger than life presence. Also known as DJ 6'7" or Six. You could often find Stacey at local establishments playing music for all to dance to. He loved bringing people together. His love of music was just one of his greatest gifts he gave to all of us.
Stacey played basketball for most of his adult life. His love for the game was evident to anyone who knew Stacey. After playing for KSC, he went on to play semi-pro overseas in Ireland, Japan, Mexico and his home country of Barbados. As time went on, he continued to play for local men's leagues in Keene and the surrounding areas and in his home city of Dorchester, MA. When he was not playing basketball, he was coaching, watching the game or re-watching the highlights. During high stress games he would often be on the phone with his cousin Shawn, best friend Kareem Porter, or his father analyzing and discussing the plays.
Stacey was previously employed as a paraprofessional at both Keene Middle School and Keene High School. While at Keene High, he was the Varsity Coach of the Keene Basketball Girls Teams. His love of coaching kids on and off the court will never be forgotten by any of them. He has remained close to many of his previous students; now that they have become adults and have their own families. Stacey was most recently employed as a Car Detail Specialist at Mean Bead in Swanzey, NH. Although he was unable to work this last year, he truly missed working alongside one of his dearest friends Dru Wilson, owner of Mean Bead.
Stacey grew up in The Church of the Holy Spirit. At a young age, he was part of the Youth Group where he learned about the love of God. Stacey had faith in God, he knew God and loved him. His mom would always remind him to put God first in everything he did. He and Joleah would visit other churches in Keene, or they would watch services on youtube from Church of the Holy Spirit.
From the first day he was diagnosed, Stacey fought hard with grace and dignity. He never gave up his fight or lost his faith. Stacey knew he was not alone and that his Savior, Jesus Christ, was with him at all times.
Although he stood taller than most, his gentle nature was loved by all. His passing has left a void in our lives that can never be filled.
We want to thank Rev. Armstrong , Rev. Harry and his church family and everyone else for their prayers and well wishes throughout his fight and passing.
Thanks to the Medical Team at Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH, and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Lebanon, NH for the care they gave to Stacey. Stacey referred to the nurses and staff in Keene as his Angels and we are forever grateful to each of them.
We would like to give a special thanks to Jacob Slagle. His friendship to Stacey and his family will never be forgotten.
