Shakira Nicole (Soberanis) Robertson was born on November 25, 1976, to Yvonne Soberanis. She peacefully departed from this world on July 13, 2024.
Shakira was a bright light and had a smile that would definitely bring joy to darkness and a simple laugh that would make you want to join in. Her early years were met with the challenge of losing her mother at a tender age, but in the words of Maya Angelou, “Just like moons and like suns, with the certainty of tides. Just like hopes springing high, still I’ll rise”. And rise is what Shakira did. Her education was marked by her attendance at school through the METCO program in Westwood, MA, where she graduated in 1994. She briefly attended college at Johnson & Wales, but soon discovered that her true passion lay in cosmetology, following in the footsteps of her beautiful mother. Despite exploring other interests and career opportunities, nothing compared to the joy she found in being a wife and mother.
In October of 2002, Shakira married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Robertson. Together, they welcomed two beautiful daughters, despite the known health risks she faced in carrying them. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her love for her daughters and husband was the centerpiece of her life.
Her life is celebrated and her legacy is carried on by her devoted husband of 22 years, Charles Furman Robertson; her cherished daughters, Sienna Yvonne Robertson and Maika Rae Robertson; grandmother, Veronica Soberanis; mother-in-love, Naomi Robertson; uncles: Ernest (Erika) Soberanis, Carlton Soberanis, and Leo Reyes; brother-in-love, Cedric (Linda) Robertson; sisters-in-love, Etchika (James) Brown and Marika Robertson-Hamilton; nieces, Saige Hamilton and Sydni Hamilton; nephew, Nolan Hamilton; and a host of dear cousins, family friends, and a team of healthcare supporters she met along the way.
Shakira's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her. She is now free, soaring like the beautiful butterfly that she is…
