"The Rose''

Rosetta R. Fontes

1946 ~ 2023

Rosetta R. Johnson Fontes, the beloved daughter of Elizabeth Johnson Dean and Edward L. Moran Sr, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 20, 1946.

Rosetta was educated in the Boston Public School system, and then, from there, she graduated from the school of hard knocks.

Rosetta lived her life completely on her own terms. She was very selective about who was in her space; the only people who mattered were her children, grandchildren, and family.

Later in life, she started working for the Boston Public School as a bus monitor until she retired in 2018.

Rosetta was a very strong-willed person who stood firmly on her beliefs and values. There was no gray area with her; she believed in being honest and straightforward and stood firmly on the truth.

You could always count on Rosetta to leave you with words of wisdom and knowledge, and if you didn't learn anything from her, you weren't listening.

Rosetta had an infectious sense of humor that had everyone crying tears of joy.

She loved to laugh and enjoyed seeing everyone laugh as well. Rosetta's passions were crocheting for herself and cooking. We warmly referred to her kitchen as "Rosey's kitchen." She made the best spaghetti, collard greens, lasagna, and beans, just to name a few, but her pineapple upside-down cake was the best you ever tasted.

Rosetta quietly slipped away Monday, November 13th, 2023, at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Rosetta was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Johnson Dean, and father, Edward L. Moran Sr. and Carl Dean Sr. (daughter) Rosetta Maneula Fontes (sissy), (brother) Carl Dean Jr, (sister) Lorraine Moran, (brother) William A. Moran (brother) Edward L. Moran Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory (son) Ramon Fontes, (cousin) Nielita Brown (Scott), (sister) Beverly Demetrius, (sister) Linda Brown (Percel), (sister) Andrea Dean, (brother) James Dean, (sister) Michele Dean, (sister) Annette Dean, (sister) Helen Cook (Bobby Sr.), (sister) Linda Heath, (sister) Maida Jackson, (sister) Terri Cochran (Phillip Sr.), (sister) Gerri Humprey (Harold Jr.), (brother) James A. Moran (Eleanor), (brother) Randy Moran Sr. Grandchildren: Ramona Fontes, Simone Fontes, Ramon Fontes Jr., Rae'ana Silva-Fontes, and Longtime companion Antonio Dewolf.

And now her life has run its course, so see you soon, Rosetta, and farewell; we love you.

A part of us has gone with you, but a part of you will always go with us.

With Love,

The Family
