Manuel C. Gonçalves, age 66, loving husband,father, grandfather,brother, uncle and friend was born and raised in Cabo Verde. He emigrated to United States, seeking a better life for his family on 1/24/1989 leaving his children behind. He was reunited with his children in 2003, when they all emigrated to join him. He is survived by his wife Maria R. Gonçalves and his five children (Margarida S. Gonçalves; Artemisia S. Gonçalves; Messalina L. Gonçalves; Janilton L. Gonçalves and Sueli L. Gonçalves and 11 grandchildren (two of whom are on the way.) He is also survived by his father, 6 sisters, 4 brothers, nieces and nephews. As an adult learner, Manuel completed his high school diploma in the United States and proceeded to attend college where he attained an associates degree. Manuel was a talented professional who dedicated most of his life to carpentry and construction. At age 12, he became a carpentry apprentice in Cabo Verde, then he started working in the field at 15 to help his mother. He was a hardworking professional with over 40 year of experience. He started his contracting business in construction about 7 years ago then was forced to retire due to illness. Manuel’s dedication to his profession and his family was inspirational. He wanted everyone to be successful in whatever they did for themselves. We hope that his legacy will continue to be an inspiration to all those he loved and whom love him.
