Louis Ray Moore passed on to the Lord on October 2, 2021, at the age of 76.
Louis was born on March 2, 1945, in Nashville, TN. The son of the late Carl and Lillie Mae Moore. The family later moved to Boston, MA where Louis graduated from English High School in 1964. Then in 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a sergeant in the 6947 Security Squadron. During his service, he became a certified Morse code intercept operator supporting the troops during the Vietnam war until his honorable discharge in 1969.
Louis worked for the U.S. Postal Service, in Roxbury, MA, for over 20 years, before retiring on or about 2005. An avid sports enthusiast, he followed, read, subscribed, and watched everything having to do with the local Boston sports teams, from basketball, football to baseball.
He particularly enjoyed his music. His feet were always tapping when Chuck Brown’s “Bustin’ Loose” was played. His collection of tapes and CDs ranged from R&B, Hip Hop to the occasional jazz selection.
While quiet in words, Louis always expressed his love and caring. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his stepdaughters and their children. Always in attendance at their birthday events when he was able to travel and supportive in many ways. He always preferred walking or taking mass transit to get about town, choosing to exercise his body and stimulate his mind.
