Kevin Levin Lewis

Kevin Levin Lewis, fondly known as “Popmatic,” was born on April 22, 1962, in Germantown, Pennsylvania, to Shirley Roberts and James R. Lewis. Kevin was one of 8 siblings and came to know another father figure, Thomas Roberts. His step-father. Kevin graduated from Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia. After graduating from high school, Kevin embraced the knowledge to make it as Self-Employed Black Man. He was an ironworker, carpenter, painter, Mechanic. He was a jack of all trades. he could do everything. Yet, he understood his depth and held his responsibility to his family at the front of his motivation. He arrived in Boston during his early 20’s and established his lifelong friendships with his best friends, Paul Robinson, Sherman Jones, Justice Hall, and George Jennings. Kevin and Edith Jones, were lifelong companions, they were blessed with a growing tribe. He loved spending his time with family especially his grandchildren. Kevin sudden and tragic passing, at the age of 59, has pierced the hearts of many who will be working and moving towards some sense of closure and healing as they move into this next chapter of their lives. Kevin was loved by many, his aura and presence lit up any room. His words were comforting and true, he was hardworking, special, unique and ultimately, he was a great father, brother, uncle, and granddad. Kevin was always one who brought life to a party with his skills as a DJ. Kevin was social, but he also loved activities where he was present with himself, such as working on his truck or practicing his DJing skills. Kevin will be reunited with some but leaves those to cherish in his memory: His Life Long Companion Edith Jones Children: Sons; Levin Lewis, Terrell Bethea, Akil Washington, Keenan Lewis, Kaamel Lewis, Stepson-Abdul Karim Muwakkil. Son in law-Raymond Francisco Daughters: Keyarra Francisco, Naja Hines Step Daughter-April Jones Grandchildren: Ajanay Hines, Bysil El, Nori Lewis, Jala Lewis, Elijah Lewis, Semaj Lewis, Ahjere Lewis, Tatyana Lewis,Shakir Sabree Za’Nyia Washington, Akil Washington Jr., Ashane Washington, Khalilah Washington, Amir Muwakkil, Shamia Muwakkil, Malaya Muwakkil, Keyon Hallman, Ariel Jones, Keyajah Jones, Neiko Teixeira, Kamryn Gerald. Siblings- Brothers- Vernon Lewis, Bernard Lewis (deceased) Gary Lewis (deceased) James Lewis (Jimmy), Thomas Roberts III, and Donnell Raye Lewis (deceased) Sister-Karen Lewis (deceased), he also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
