Kevin Curtis Butler passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, in Taunton, Massachusetts. Born on March 21, 1955, in Bronx, New York, Kevin was the youngest of three children and the beloved son of Stanley and Dorothy Butler Sr.
From a young age, Kevin attended Epworth United Methodist Church in the Bronx with his mother and siblings. His time at Epworth was filled with meaningful experiences that shaped his life. Kevin and his sister Gloria were proud members of the Epworth Youth Choir, where they sang together for many years. He also participated in Sunday School, Bible Day Camp, and other church activities, forming many lifelong friendships along the way.
Kevin was educated in New York City Public Schools, attending P.S. 35, P.S. 64, and Wade Junior High School. He graduated from William H. Taft High School in the Class of 1973. After graduation, Kevin moved to New Hampshire to live with his Aunt Barbara and Uncle Chester. During this time, he worked as a cook at Burger Chef and quickly advanced to assistant manager. Six months later, with the support of his Uncle Chester, Kevin secured a position in Computer Operations at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Kevin later relocated with his relatives to Amesbury, Massachusetts, before returning to New York. There, he worked for Duffy Security and in the IT department at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. It was during a summer recreational basketball game at Epworth that he met Patricia “Cissy” Jones. Their connection blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married on August 21, 1982. Kevin settled in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where together, they built a loving family and raised two daughters, Andria and Danielle.
Kevin dedicated 33 years of his professional life to FM Global, where he held leadership roles as Team Leader in Computer Operations and Strategy and Business Enablement. His colleagues admired his intelligence and humor—qualities that also endeared him to all who knew him personally. Throughout his life, Kevin’s unique blend of wit and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His creative spirit and thoughtful demeanor were matched only by his ability to bring laughter into any room.
Kevin is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Cissy; his cherished daughters, Andria and Danielle; his older brother Stanley Butler Jr.; his sister-in-law Ruth Porter-Butler; his loving sister Gloria Butler; many cousins, nieces, great nieces, a great nephew, and a host of family members and friends who will deeply miss him. Kevin’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication to family, friends, and everyone around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
