Kenneth James, affectionately known as Kenny or “Koont,” was born on December 11, 1967, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Coldon Lee James and Louise Lawson.
He attended Boston Public Schools, and upon completing his education, Kenneth worked as a short-order cook in various restaurants, where he shared his love for food and community.
Kenneth departed this life on March 10, 2025, at the age of 57. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Pamela Jackson. His journey through life was marked by resilience, a deep love for family, and a spirit that never wavered despite life’s challenges.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving son, Shaquille Williams; his beloved granddaughter, Mae Elise Williams-Stokes; his mother, Louise Constant; his sister, Liz James-Spivey (Keisha James-Spivey); four nephews, Jamaal Alexis (Nimra Alexis), James Thompson, Louis Thompson, and Auston James-Wyatt; along with a host of cousins who will forever treasure the time and memories shared with him.
Kenneth’s life was one of perseverance. He was a man of strength, known for his quiet yet powerful presence and the unbreakable bonds he formed with family and friends. He deeply valued connection and loyalty. His story is one of endurance, love, and legacy—a life that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Kenneth James will forever be remembered for his kind heart, warm spirit, sense of humor, and laid-back demeanor. He especially loved cooking and sharing large meals with those closest to him—always bringing people together around the table.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts and lives he touched.
