Joan Ethel Hawksworth, 86, formerly of Quincy, passed away on December 30th, 2024, in Rockland, Massachusetts.
Joan was born on June 19, 1938, in Somerville. She graduated from Medford High School in 1957. She was a data entry operator for the US Coast Guard. Joan was an active member of St. James Episcopalian Church of Cambridge and St. Chrysostom's Episcopal Church of Quincy, where she was well-known for her beloved "Moses the Church Mouse" Children's sermons. She volunteered for many years with the Ecclesia Ministry program for the homeless. She also attended services at St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge.
Joan is survived by her cousin Muriel Brown of Newport, Vermont, and her nephews and nieces: Ken Blake of Rockland, MA, Marcia Cunningham of Littleton, CO, Lawrence Blake of Victoria, MN, Cindy Blake of Marshfield, MA, and Bob Blake of Stoughton, MA, and many grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Ethel Hawkesworth, her father, Willis Hawkesworth, and her brother, Robert Blake.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy on February 19th, at 3:00 PM.
