Jen Julie Smith, 50, passed away on September 26, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Jen Smith was born on July 26, 1973 in Trinidad & Tobago, to Charles Smith and Eva Smith.
Jen graduated from Rockland High School in 1991 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and African-American Studies from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree from Catholic University. She started her career as a Lawyer after passing the Bar in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Massachusetts. Jen went on to work for over two decades.
Jen was best known for enjoyment of Black culture; swimming in the Caribbean; and avidly following NBA Playoff action. A deep believer in Christ Jesus, Jen was active in the church. Jen was a witty, loving, dependable person who could make light of any situation and went out of her way to help everybody she could. As Emerson said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived that is to have succeeded." In that case Julie has had much success and that is her legacy.
Jen is survived by Charles Smith - father, Gershon Blyden - brother, Kiowe Smith - brother, Jessel-Paul Smith - brother, Dale Smith - brother, Don Griffith - brother; Kiowe Smith, Jr. - nephew, Kamaree Smith - nephew, Gregori Griffith - nephew, Dimitri Griffith - nephew, and Sophia Griffith - niece.
Jen is preceded in death by her Beloved Mother, Eva Smith; her dear nephew, Baby Aleksander "Sasha" Griffith.
Memorial donations can be made in Jen's name to Boston Medical Center Cancer Center (bmc.org/cancer) and/or Dana Farber Cancer Institute (dana-farber.org).
