Janice A. Hunter (Sims), one half of identical twin daughters of the late Clarence R Jordan and Amanda F Sims, was born October 31, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up in the Roxbury and Dorchester areas, Janice made many friends and acquaintances, most affectionately calling her “Twin”.
Janice was a proud graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke. She also attended Boston Business School, majoring in Finance, which guided her future career path. She worked for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for over 10 years before making a permanent home at Boston Water and Sewer.
Janice had a marvelous sense of humor, a warm heart, a giving spirit and was loved by those whose lives she touched. And if you knew Jan, you also knew about Cyrus, her cat and partner in crime for the last 15 years.
Jan, as she was affectionately called by her loved ones, was into many things. She loved to dance and loved her music, especially Donna Summer. In her later years, one of Jan’s favorite songs was “Nasty Girl” by Notorious BIG. Jan loved her soaps. Every day at 7pm, no one could talk to her while “I’m watching my soaps, talk to you later bye”. Jan’s latest joy was watching episodes of the the TV show Power, over and over and over again... Jan was definitely one of a kind.
Janice loved going out for the day and seeing what the city had to offer. She loved going out to eat at different restaurants and attending the movies as well. Once her grandson Chad was born, Janice’s activities consisted of whatever Chad wanted to do. They spent a lot of time going to the movies, going to Franklin Park for the kite festivals and other things grandmothers would do with their only grandson.
Janice is preceded in death by her father, Clarence R Jordan, Mother Amanda F Sims and sister Jean Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Dermice D Hunter; son, Deron B. Hunter; grandson, Chad Hunter-Johnson; twin sister, Joyce A. Brown and absolutely her cat Cyrus, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
WE WILL MISS YOU, FOREVER
