Jamal Thomas Harris, was born on January 10, 1991, in Boston Massachusetts to Ordine Farrell Brown and David Harris. Shortly after he was born, Jamal relocated to Florida with his mother and brother, but returned to spend the summers with his dad in Boston. At age four Jamal started playing baseball with his older brother Chris winning multiple championships and trophies along the way. Jamal attended elementary and middle school in Florida.
About age fourteen Jamal, returned to Boston to live with his dad David and his brother Chris, he continued to play baseball throughout high school. As a freshman at Hyde Park High he played in the high school baseball "All Stars" at historic Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Jamal attended and graduated from Hyde Park High School. He went on to pursue a technical education at Wentworth Institute of Technology majoring in Construction, Estimating, Specification and Architectural Designs. Upon graduation from Wentworth, he was employed with Excelle Masonry Inc. as an Operational and Project Manager working with his dad. During the pandemic Jamal stepped up successfully running the company while his dad was out of the country for approximately 189 months.
Jamal was a loving father and family man, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter Jordan, going on trips to visit his mom in Florida, taking Jordan to Disney world, among other fun travel sites, going out to eat, to the parks, fairs and doting on Jordan, she was truly a daddy's girl. He was very protective of his younger sister Allisa, anyone who messed with her had to contend with him and he meant business. Allisa had him wrapped around her little finger but he did not mind, anything she wanted he was there to help or shield her.
Jamal loved his dad David they were glued at the hip, they both looked forward to the January 10th, birthday they shared. They enjoyed their birthday together every year, even when they were apart. Jamal hated fishing but would accompany his dad on fishing trips to keep his company and for bonding time.
Jamal's older brother Chris was one of his closest friends, as children they played baseball together. Chris spoke of how competitive Jamal was but joked that this was reserved mostly for him since he was a Patriots and Tom Brady fan while Jamal was an Indianapolis Colt fan when Peyton Manning was the quarterback. When Peyton Manning moved on to the Denver Broncos, Jamal switched teams to a Denver following Peyton Manning to his new team and challenging Chris in his competitive spirit about the best NFL team with the best quarterback. Along with football Jamal was a Lakers fan, idolizing Kobe Bryant. Jamal's competitive steak could be seen when he was gathered with the neighborhood kids playing basketball in the back yard in his Hyde Park home playing late into the night during the summer. There would be ongoing arguments into the night about who was better and why.
In addition to spending time with his daughter, he loved spending time with family and friends. He had a magnetic personality and bonded with everyone who came in contact with him, he was always willing to help, he was protective of his family and did not like bullies. He was determined and steadfast, always willing to lend a helping hand, was respectful, and a true friend, who was firm and spoke his mind. He has a sense of humor but knew when to get serious. He was an avid sport fan, always the competitor and loved to debate about the various sport teams.
