She was mummy to her children, grandma, grandmother and great grandma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Aunt Muriel to some, and Ms. Jordan to others. Muriel received her education at St.Paul's Girls and St. Matthias Schools, in Barbados, West Indies. Muriel worshiped at St. Barnabas Church, Barbados. Four of her children later joined her. Upon her arrival to Boston, she joined the staff at Harborview Nursing Home in South Boston, where she was employed for 21 years until her retirement in 1993.
Ms. Jordan worshiped at St. Marks Anglican Church in Dorchester and was confirmed in 1992. As an active member she never shied away from her church duties, and she loved her church family. Ms. Jordan received many awards and certificates from the various Ministries of the church.
Mummy was blessed with mothering six children, one who died as an infant. She was also blessed with a bonus son from her late husband.
Mummy was very soft spoken but firm in her beliefs. Mummy always reminded us that "when it's your time to go, it is your time." She accepted death and was never afraid to talk about it. Mummy was a people's person, she loved company. She enjoyed cooking soup on Mondays and cou-cou on Fridays for her small village. When she was no longer able to she taught her daughter Evadne to cook the cou cou and her granddaughter Andrea to make the soup. Mummy made sure that she was present at every family graduation and event as long as she was able to. Mummy enjoyed life, whether it was going on bus trips, cruises, excursions or traveling. Mummy enjoyed going to cricket games and Political meetings during her younger years, her daughter Myrna inherited these pastimes from her. She was well respected by all her siblings, some who even looked up to her like she was their mother. She had a very close relationship with all her nieces and nephews. On Wednesday June 28, 2023, Muriel left her earthly home and went home to be with her Lord. Just as she lived, she died, peacefully.
