Edna Zollarcoffer, 83, passed away on July 15, 2023, in Boston, MA. Edna was born on April 27, 1940 in Philadelphia, MS, to the late Samuel Rush and Judie Rush and had six siblings Sammy Lee Rush (deceased), Jim Rush (deceased), Martha Moore, Dewitt Rush (deceased), Ada Phillips, and Laura Ann Rush (deceased).
Edna graduated from Neshoba Central High School in Philadelphia, MS and soon after moved to Boston, MA where she met and married Louis Zollarcoffer on April 19, 1962. Married for 36 years Louis and Edna raised a blended family of 12 children.
Whether you knew her as Mom, Ms. Edna, Mama Z, Grandma or Little Nana, Edna was best known for her big heart, caregiving spirit and exceptional cooking (she made the best banana pudding on the planet). Edna worked as a caregiver inside and outside of the house taking care of her clients, as a nurses aide, raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all the children in the neighborhood. Edna welcomed everyone into her home for a conversation, drink or good meal. Edna was the kind person that when you met her you instantly loved her, she will be greatly missed.
Edna is survived by her children Jacqueline Bromell, Freddie Bromell (son-in-law), Ann Mack, Brenda Marshall, Robert Marshall (son-in-law), Joanne Zollarcoffer, Willie Rush, Deborah Zollarcoffer, Patricia Zollarcoffer, Cynthia Murphy, Willie Murphy (son-in-law), Darin Zollarcoffer, 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces/nephews and many friends.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband Louis Zollarcoffer and sons Gilbert Zollarcoffer, James (Eddie) Zollarcoffer and Louis Zollarcoffer, Jr.
In honor of Edna, let us all remember "we may not always see eye-to-eye but we always see heart-to-heart."
