The Life and Times of Daryl Golston

Daryl Golston was born on March 5, 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina to Fredrick and Margaret Golston. He grew up in the Columbia Point Housing Development in Boston, Massachusetts, alongside his siblings Patricia, Siegfred, Fredricka, Geno, Penny, and Crystal.

From a young age, Daryl stood out for his ambition and intelligence. He was always achieving something or standing up for a cause. He attended Madison High School, where he excelled in both academics and sports and was voted "Most Likely to Become Famous" thanks to his magnetic personality. At 18, he acted in a play that aired on national television titled "Dark Side of the Road."

After graduating, Daryl chose to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. Following his service, he became an electrician at Raytheon in Andover, MA. Never one to stop learning, Daryl later earned a certificate in Community Development from Harvard University.

Daryl was passionate about his community. He served on the Codman Square Neighborhood Council and regularly volunteered at local food banks and the Youth Village Conservatory. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create the Columbia Pointe Committee, an initiative that raised funds to help recent graduates with college expenses. He was also well known for organizing the vibrant and beloved Pointe Reunion Parties, which brought joy and unity to the neighborhood.

In 1982, Daryl married Denise Downey, and together they built a strong, loving family grounded in faith and mutual support. He became a proud stepfather to Nikora Downey, Denise's daughter from a previous relationship. Together, they raised Chuckeena, Daryl Jr., Tralaina, and Meshack Golston.

Daryl was a devoted and loving grandfather to eight beautiful grandchildren: Imani, Demari, Kaylani, Journee, Meshack Jr. (MJ), Riley, Armani, and Mailani. He also cherished his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, holding family close to his heart.

If you knew Daryl, then you knew the power of his words. He was a master communicator so persuasive that he could easily change your mind, and if he did, you'd never hear the end of it! He had a natural gift for humor, and his jokes could leave a whole room in stitches.

Daryl loved to dress sharply and was well known for his stylish suits. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, but most of all, he loved his family and friends deeply and unconditionally.
