Betty M. Spencer departed her life on December 2, 2018
at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, MA.
Betty was born to the late Elzie and Mary Spencer, October 13, 1947,
in the town of Quitman, GA.
Betty received her education in Brooks County, GA.
Betty worked for the City of Boston in Food Service as a
Domestic Worker (Lunch Mother) for over twenty years.
Betty enjoyed serving the students because of her love for cooking and making people happy.
Betty loved entertaining family and friends, sharing stories over a good home cooked meal.
Her cooking was like “food for the soul.”
Her collard greens, cornbread and good old fashion ham hocks were out of this world!
Family, friends and the community as a whole, will miss you and your soul food.
Betty was predeceased by:
Parents Elzie and Mary Spencer, two sisters, Annie Grimsley, Martha Bennett;
One brother; Sam Spencer, and One son; Jerome Spencer.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories:
One son; Willie Spencer (Shirley) of Brockton, MA;
Three daughters; Cheryl Spencer-Cole (Derrell) of Brockton, MA;
Jennifer Streeter (Guy) of Atlanta, GA; Vonetta Spencer-Wilkinson (Collin) of Boston, MA;
Three sisters, Janie Capehart of St. Petersburg, Fl;
Gloria Scott of Thomasville, GA; Hazel Bartee, of Boston, MA;
Two brothers; Warren Ed. Spencer (Katie) of Boston, MA;
and Larry Spencer (Eleanor) of Quitman, GA;
many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her very much.
