Veronica Percival: Born May 21, 1927 and passed away at approximately 2:45 on Friday, July 3, 2020, with the love of her family surrounding her.
Veronica was born on the island Laborie, St. Lucia to her parents Herman and Lydia. She had 9 siblings of which she was the last surviving member. Veronica is survived by her two daughters Martha and Lorine.
This might be quite a surprise to some but in her early years, Veronica was what some might call a jetsetter, having the time of her life traveling with friends throughout the French Caribbean, including Guadalupe, Martinique, and French Guyana. In her mid-thirties Veronica and her daughters moved to Barbados where she worked as a salesperson, seamstress, and owner of a small grocery store. In 1977 she moved to New York to join her daughter Martha where she worked briefly as a caregiver. For the last three years she lived in Boston with her daughter, Lorine.
Veronica was a devout Christian. She possessed an unwavering belief in the power of God and that all things are possible when placed in his hands. She prayed daily and several times throughout the day, praying for the well-being of family, friends, and the world at large. She was a kind and gentle soul, a loving spirit, tranquil and beautiful beyond measure. With every intention she would follow by saying “God Willing”.
Veronica will be dearly missed by her daughters Martha and Lorine, grandchildren Charmaine, Nicky, and Chris. Her fourth grandchild Shawn passed away 7 years ago so we can safely say they are together in celebration. There are also great grandchildren Desmond (deceased), Guy, Nattallya, Khai, Allyanna, Donte, Kaden, Zelie and Jada; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Farewell
Though the family mourns Sister Veronica’s loss,
they are comforted by the words in Psalm 21:2-6
You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him length of days, for ever and ever. Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with joy of your presence.
