On September 2, 1948 in Boston, Mass The late Leonard and Iry Hampton gave birth to a daughter, Leona Hampton (affectionately known by her younger sisters as Na-Na).
Later in life Leona met and married Moses Thompson, to that union they were blessed with one child (Melissa Monique). Leona Worked for the Boston Herald In the television listing department, she retired early from the Herald, but she could not stay retired so she decided to go back to work in a position at the Compass school for troubled children, she worked there until she decided to sit down and relax at home doing her crossword puzzles and playing her computer games. Enjoying spending time with her family, attending most family functions near and far until traveling became a heavy task and her health started to fail. She thought she had experienced more love than she could handle with her daughter Melissa, but then along came London her granddaughter whom she loved and doted on as much as humanly possible.
On Wednesday October 28, 2020 Leona was called to her celestial home. Leona was proceeded in death by her Father Leonard Hampton; Her Mother Iry Hampton; and her sister Barbara Hampton (Brewster).
She leaves to celebrate her home going, Husband Moses Thompson, Daughter Melissa, Granddaughter London (Zahir Kahn) of Brockton Ma; Brother; Frank Hampton (Madie), of San Antonio, Texas; Sisters Thelma F. Chalmers of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Phyllis D. Hampton of Taunton Ma. And longtime friend Marilyn Cole of Florida.
Close nieces and nephews: Jerry (Amika), Tracey (Peyton), Vanessa (Barry), Nishara (Lafayette), Chavez Hampton, Ineta Williams, Angela Williams, Yolanda Williams. And a host of other relatives and friends near and far.
