Joseph Maiden was born on April 2, 1940 in Tunica, Mississippi to the late Ruben and Ever Maiden. He worked and attended the local schools in Tunica. In the early 1970’s Joseph also known as “Joe” moved his young family to Boston, MA where he took on a trade as a construction worker.
Joe was employed at Chapman Waterproofing Company for over 20 years and later retired from there.
Joe had a love for family, where he attended all birthday parties, cookouts, and any other family functions that consists of a deck of cards. Playing spades was one of Joe’s favorite activities it was never a dull moment when he sat at that table (you better know how to play when playing with him, because he will tell you about it).
On October 6th Joe took his last breath, he was a trooper till the end and he no longer had to fight, the fight was over. Joe never murmured or complained about his illness he accepted it and made peace with God and gave his life to Christ.
Joseph was preceded in death by his longtime companion Annie Mae Hemphill, parents Ruben and Ever Maiden, sisters Ruby Allison, Mary Holloway, Bertha Buford, brothers, WD Maiden, Harry Maiden, Roosevelt Maiden, Willie James Maiden, and Ruben Maiden.
Joesph will be truly missed by his daughters Elizabeth Maiden, Easter Maiden Emma Bradley from Boston, Ma and Daisey Maiden from New York sons Willie Maiden, Jerry (Dean) Demson, Joelee Maiden, and Eric (Ty) Maiden from Boston, Ma. 19 Grandchildren Evelyn, Renee, Alvin, Edna, Alicia, Alana, Joe Jr, Quanasha, Tyrell, Eric, Corey, Willie (JR), Dominique, Willie, Latoya, Dean, Jerry, Syheid, and Kiomora. 12 great –grands a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves a very special friend Lucinda Williams who cared for him until his passing.
