John Anthony Sloane Jr was born in Queens, NY on August 12, 1978. Son of the late John Anthony Sloane Sr and Mary-Jo Miller Sloane. As cliché as it may sound, John was GENUINELY One of a Kind! THE MOST commanding presence in any room, w/the loudest most infectious laugh. Mickey, as he was affectionately nicknamed, had a light about his spirit that shines still even in his passing.
Mickey loved and reminisced fondly about his childhood growing up in Lefrak City, NY. Always sporting his infamous “squinted eye” stare whenever a camera flash went off, because as he’d tell it: Cuz I’m lite skinned from Queens! Endless stories of his love of sports and how athletic he was growing up. I’d say he grew to love the Patriots, but I don’t want him messing with the lights and flicking them off and on.
Mick spoke passionately about growing up being the sole brother to three sisters Lisa, Lauren and Lynette. How he played his role as their protector, he honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way. His love for his children Jaden and Mikayla was infinite! As unwavering as true love is, it remains STILL!
His friendship was UNMATCHED, having been referred to as “My brother” by MANY! His hugs and advice will truly be missed! When Mick moved to Boston solidifying our commitment to each other I never imagined a life without him in it. Bitter pill to swallow, such is life. A tailor made type of Love and he also took on the role of Father to my three. From this love we created a son due in May who we’ll name Jace Amir Sloane. The Sloane name will indeed live on FOREVER through his legacy and countless stories we all hold dear.
