Emil L. Brooks

September 24, 1952 — December 7, 2020

The Life of Emil Brooks Emil Larry Brooks was born on September 24, 1952 to the late Harold and Naomi Brooks in Flowers Bay, Honduras. His years growing up on the island were filled with sunshine and love. He was surrounded by a large, chaotic, but most of all loving and supportive family. After graduating from high school he began working as a merchant marine. Although this work was hard, and at times dangerous; his career would allow him to fulfil his love for the sea, and hunger for new adventures. He was able to travel the world and see so many different thing beyond his beautiful little island of Roatan. After leaving Honduras and retiring from working on the ship, Emil made Dorchester, Massachusetts his new home. Flowers Bay would always have his heart and he would travel “back home” yearly. While traveling back home he married his young bride Jane Sanchez from Punta Gorda, Honduras on December 26, 2000. Emil and Jane started their happy life together when Jane was able to join him in the United States in 2003. On July 19, 2004 their son Michael was born, and their new family was complete. Life was good for Emil. He was also surrounded by most of his large family, those who had also immigrated from Honduras to Boston. Life was never dull on Holiday St. He had his wife and son, his parents, siblings, and so many nieces and nephews around him. His life was full. He loved it and them. Emil was a kind, gentle, loving and giving man. He enjoyed baseball and buying his lottery or scratch tickets. He was a man who liked the simple things in life. He would win some and lose some but the joy and thrill he gained from this was never ending to him. Although he lived in Boston, Massachusetts a Red Sox nation; he was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. Nothing anyone said could change his loyalties. You could always find him quietly watching or listening to a game on the radio or television. Baseball was his passion. Unfortunately, Emil was another victim of the COVID 19 pandemic which has claimed so many lives. He died on December 7, 2020 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Emil is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Naomi Brooks, sister Wanda, brothers Kelogg, Harold Jr. and Arlin. His legacy lives on through his sons, Darly and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife Jane, his brothers and sisters, as well a large extended family and a host of friends. Emil will be remembered and greatly missed for his warm smile, gentle ways, and loving soul. Rest in peace sweet Emil until we meet again.
