Eula Faye Mikel

July 5, 1945 — June 28, 2017

Sister Eula Faye Mikel transitioned from this life peacefully surrounded by family on June 28, 2017 at the Edgar P. Benjamin Healthcare Center.

She was born in Claxton, GA on July 5, 1945 to the union of the late Ollie and Cora Mikell. She attended Claxton Schools. In 1961, she relocated to Boston where she received her GED Diploma. She worked at various companies throughout her life. She was a self-taught seamstress and an excellent cook. In later years, she became the head cook and assistant manager of the House of Prayer Kitchen in Boston. When her health started to decline, her responsibilities were lessoned but she continued to work until she moved to a healthcare facility full-time.

She was a member of the United House of Prayer for her entire life. She was Boston’s cook for the Late Bishop S.C. Madison until her health no longer permitted. She was a faithful and obedient servant of God. She worked to do whatever her hands could find to do in the house of the Lord.

She was an active member of the community. She was known as Aunt Faye to everyone. She would sponsor movie nights and provide snacks for the children in the neighborhood. She would invite everyone over for Holiday dinners. She believed no one should ever be without a home cooked meal on Holidays. She always had open arms and a listening ear for anyone who needed it.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Ida Brown, a brother, Paul Mikel and a grandson Victor Otaadose. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Damon Mikel ( Judith), two daughters Jacqualine Mikell and Calandra Mikel, two special nieces (whom she helped raise) Latrenda McMillian and Atlea Mikell; five granddaughters, Osazee Otoadese, Obehi Otoadese, Traneese Jones, Ava Mikel and Zoe Mikel, one grandson, Jacori Mikel (Aja); two sisters, Brenda Mikell of Boston, MA, Ollie Mikell, Willie Mack (Lena) and Charles Mikell of Clazton, GA, Dennis Mikell (Beverly)  of Killeen, TX; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends whose lives she touched over the years.
